Viasat: new headquarters for its 20 years in the Group

It was 2002 when Viasat, born in 1987 from a brilliant idea by Telespazio (formerly Finmeccanica, now Leonardo) and became a joint venture between the two major industrial groups in the country, Seat of the Telecom group and Magneti Marelli of the Fiat group – was acquired by Exefin, a company founded by President Domenico Petrone. From that union, the Group we know today was born, present with its own technological and commercial structures in 10 countries (Italy, Spain, Chile, Portugal, France, Belgium, Great Britain, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria) and, through its Partners, in more than 60 countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and South America. Viasat was the company that invented, designed and disseminated “the First, the Original, the Satellite Anti-theft which integrated for the first time, worldwide, three innovative technologies: GPS, GSM and MicroComputer. The new headquarters in Rome is intended to represent a bridge between the past and the future of the company and the Group of the same name, an initiative promoted and wanted by Marco Petrone, CEO of Exefin (the holding company controlling the Viasat Group). In short, a change that marks a new beginning full of enthusiasm, projects and innovative technologies that will project us towards even more ambitious goals.

“The path of evolution started in recent years is now called digital transformation” comments Domenico Petrone, President and CEO of Viasat Group. “It is a process of radical change in which companies and the correct use of digital technologies are the protagonists. The main challenge is to ensure that innovation is no longer just a concept, but a precise strategy to be placed at the heart of every process, particularly regarding logistics and the supply chain. The new mobility will be driven by the evolution of technologies onboard the cars, which will be more ecological, but also equipped with increasingly sophisticated telematics systems and the ability to offer customized services with added value for users”.
